The Musicians of All Saints’ Wickham Terrace

Laura James

Our choir, under the direction of Tom Holownia, is one of the finest liturgical choirs in Queensland. The choir consists of professional contracted singers, known as choristers, who work alongside junior and senior choral scholars who are in our training programme.

We value musical excellence, and seek to train and pay our singers accordingly. We actively foster the continuation and development of the choral traditions which have underpinned Anglican liturgy for 600 years. All our scholars receive singing and musicianship lessons from our Director of Music who is an accomplished choral director.

Our Junior Scholars are often in the final years of their schooling or have entered into a university. Our senior scholars are often in the later years of their university studies or have begun their working careers. Our choristers are all accomplished singers who have had extensive training. Most of them earn a living in the secular world alongside their on-going commitment to music.

We are always interested in talented musicians. If you can read music, can sing in tune and would like to be considered for a place in our choir, please contact the office through admin@allsaintsbrisbane.com

Sam Catchpoole - Senior Scholar

Samuel Catchpoole is currently a Second Year University student at the University of Queensland, studying Chemical Engineering. Being a multi-instrumentalist, he has a keen attitude toward the musical world; he participates in Choral and String Ensembles such as: Symphoria Inc., OEM Foundation Choir, and All Sants Church Choir. Sam also passes on his knowledge through a teaching programme at his old school, St Peters Lutheran College Indooroopilly whereby he teaches Violin, Viola, and Cello to primary age students. He is keen to continue his passion for sharing knowledge throughout the year to accommodate and encourage young students to nurture their love of music.

The All Saints’ Wickham Terrace choir has been a fantastic gateway for Sam to not only indulge in his musical passion, but an excellent stepping stone for him to enter the Brisbane Classical/Liturgical music scene. He is excited to carry on his Senior Choral Scholarship into 2025 at the All Saints’.
